 Environmental Sustainability Solutions Architect

(ESG & Compliance Domain Expert)

Location: Remote (with option to work onsite in New York City or Las Vegas)
Position Type: Contract / Fractional Consultant (with potential for long-term engagement)
Compensation: Open, based on experience

We are seeking a Sustainability Solutions Architect to serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for our AI-driven platform focused on environmental monitoring, ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) reporting, and compliance automation. 

The ideal candidate will bridge environmental science, corporate sustainability practices, and technology, helping guide the design and development of our products core features.

This role is instrumental in ensuring that our product aligns with global compliance frameworks, meets the data quality needs of corporations and organizations, and delivers actionable insights for sustainability and impact reporting.

• Act as the domain expert on ESG reporting standards, regulatory frameworks, and compliance requirements (SEC Climate Disclosures, GHG Protocol, SASB, TCFD, CSRD, etc.).
   
• Collaborate with product architects, developers, and data scientists to design solutions that align with scientific, compliance, and reporting standards.
   
• Define and validate data models for environmental metrics such as carbon accounting (Scope 1, 2, 3), water usage, waste management, and energy efficiency.
   
• Guide AI/ML teams on integrating predictive modeling and automation into sustainability reporting.
   
• Translate environmental and regulatory requirements into product features, dashboards, and workflow automation.
   
• Stay ahead of emerging ESG regulations and climate disclosure requirements to ensure our product remains compliant and competitive.
   
• Provide insights on corporate sustainability pain points to help refine product-market fit.
   

• Deep knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks (GHG Protocol, SASB, TCFD, CSRD, CDP, etc.).
   
• Hands-on experience in corporate sustainability or environmental compliance (5+ years preferred).
   
• Proven experience with carbon accounting, environmental data modeling, or ESG performance metrics.
   
• Strong understanding of data-driven reporting platforms, ideally with exposure to AI/ML or automation solutions.
   
• Ability to collaborate with engineering teams to define technical requirements and ensure domain accuracy.
   
• Familiarity with regulatory trends in sustainability, climate disclosures, and SEC reporting requirements.
   
• Excellent communication skills to translate complex ESG concepts into actionable technical requirements.
   

• Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Data Science, or related field.
   
• Prior experience advising or building sustainability tech products, ESG data platforms, or compliance tools.
   
• Knowledge of supply chain sustainability, life-cycle assessment (LCA), or climate risk modeling.
   
• Prior experience working in a startup or cross-functional product development environment.
